Paul Asbury Seaman For several years Finzer has produced a series of mellow ambient recordings, often paired with another artist on keyboards or guitar. Synesthesia is the fourth installment of her “naked flute” series recorded in The Tank, and while it is still 100% live and improvised, this one seems to draw more directly on Finzer’s classical roots: Mozart in the opening track; elsewhere it’s Debussy. But what really stands out here is Finzer’s mastery of a variety of flutes, each in their own cultural style. Favorite track: Crimson Evening Solitude.

Synesthesia is dedicated to my late mother-in-law Judy and all who have suffered, as well as those who have been caretakers for family members with dementia, Alzheimer's, and other diseases affecting memory. A message from Judy challenged me to explore the relationship between music and color. Recorded at The Tank in Rangely, CO, I invite you to explore this music with color in mind and I would love to hear about your experience!
